Colourful pillars of light towered above the Ingraham Trail through the night on December 8, 2013. This event was the caused of a high-speed solar wind stream that created just enough turbulence in Earth’s magnetic field to spark a G2 (Moderate) geomagnetic storm at high latitudes.
